Gemex Lanka was established in the year 2014 as an affiliated venture to Kamal Gem Center Horana, a renowned sole proprietorship in the country back in 1980’s.
Kamal Gem Centers’ founder Mr.Kamal Lokuwithana established the business in the year 1979 as a result of his compassion over luxury and elegant gemstones. He was a self made success brand with his tremendous efforts and dedication. The business was serving at its best in late 80’s and 90’s as a pioneer in the industry with well reputation. The traditional business was involved in purchasing and exporting of rough gem stones to its main clientele in Thailand market.
In the year 2014 Mr.Nemal Lokuwithana the familys’ successor went on trying his luck over the beauty of gem stones by establishing GEMEX LANKA which now involves gem mining, cutting and polishing of rough gems and even manufacturing of gem studded master pieces on clients’ requests. He decided to explore fine gem trading on a global level taking his fathers’ business to trade events around the world by attending major trade shows in Tailand, China, Hongkong, India and Dubai.
Even today the original location remains as Kamal Gem Center Horana and in addition another office is opened at Colombo under the new title Gemex Lanka.
